Details Below

It’s already been said, Rick, but thank you again for your efforts putting together such a great trip.  All the planets lined up; guides, weather, fishing, etc. to make it so.  We also had a collegial group that made the trip fun.  Everything went smoothly, and everyone had success. Have a good rest of summer, and maybe we’ll run into each other on the water.

Colorado

Drift the Colorado River, and wade fish Spring Creeks.

Dates TBD

Estimated Cost is $4,400.00 pp, Limited to 5 Anglers

5 days of drift boat fishing. Your host will be Shane Becker

We will be lodging in and around the Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, and Silverthorne area, placing us in the center of some of the most diverse and productive trout fisheries in the state. This trip is designed to give you a true Colorado fly fishing experience by fishing a different river or section each day based on conditions.

This is not a one-river trip. Over the course of the week, you will fish a mix of larger float water and technical walk-and-wade fisheries. Target rivers include the Colorado River, Arkansas River, South Platte River, and smaller tributaries such as the Williams Fork River and Blue River. Each day will be adjusted to ensure we are fishing the best water available.

Mid to late June is one of the best times of year to fish Colorado. As runoff begins to drop, rivers come into shape and fishing opportunities open up across multiple drainages. Expect strong hatches of caddis, PMDs, yellow sallies, and tricos. Anglers will have opportunities to fish dries, nymphs, and streamers for Brown, Rainbow, and Cutthroat trout.

A highlight of the trip will be floating both the Colorado River and the Arkansas River. These float days allow you to cover miles of productive water and target fish that see less pressure, while mixing in walk-and-wade days on technical and scenic fisheries like the South Platte. This combination creates a well-rounded trip that few destinations can offer in a single week.

We will also have the option to include the Eagle River through a trusted local outfitter, adding another high-quality freestone fishery to the lineup.

First-rate guides, comfortable lodging, and most meals are included (we will go out for a steak dinner one night, not included). The weather this time of year is ideal, with daytime highs in the 70’s and cooler mornings—dress in layers.

Your day will start with a good breakfast. The guides will pick us up around 7:30 to 8:30 am depending on the plan for the day. You’ll return to the lodging around 5 pm. Enjoy a relaxing dinner, unwind, and spend time sharing stories from the day. Streamside lunch will be provided by the guides.

What This Colorado Trip Looks Like (Day-to-Day Experience)

This trip is built to give you a full Colorado fly fishing experience—not just one river, but a variety of waters, techniques, and scenery throughout the week.

Day 1 – Arrival
Fly into Denver and make your way into the mountains. Settle into the house near Breckenridge, relax, and get ready for the week.

Day 2 – Float the Colorado River
Your first full day starts on the Colorado River. You’ll fish from a drift boat, covering miles of productive water. Expect aggressive fish, great numbers, and a perfect way to kick off the trip.

Day 3 – Technical Wade Fishing (South Platte / Dream Stream)
Shift gears to the South Platte River for a more technical day. Sight fishing, dry flies, and matching hatches. This is where anglers really dial things in.

Day 4 – Canyon Fishing (Cheesman or Similar Water)
A more immersive experience—hiking into scenic canyon water and targeting quality fish in a technical setting. This is classic Colorado fly fishing.

Day 5 – Arkansas River Float or Freestone Wade Day
Fish the Arkansas River—one of the most well-known trout rivers in the country. Big water, beautiful scenery, and excellent fishing.

Day 6 – Bonus Variety Day (Guide’s Choice)
This day is all about flexibility. Depending on conditions, you may fish the Williams Fork, Blue River, upper Colorado near Parshall, or even the Eagle River. This ensures you’re always on the best possible water.

Day 7 – Travel Home
Wrap up the trip and head home after a full week of fishing.
